Start with the customer's decision

A potential customer wants to understand the available solutions, what they involve and which supplier fits. Your website should help them evaluate you without needing a sales call first.

Search and AI visibility means making that information accessible, understandable and credible. No setting makes a company the default answer across every AI service.

What do SEO, AEO and GEO mean?

SEO concerns visibility in search engines. AEO and GEO are often used for work on visibility in answers and AI-generated responses. The terms overlap and suppliers use them differently.

Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode use the same SEO foundations. No special AI markup is required. A page must be indexed and eligible for a search snippet to qualify as a supporting link. Selection is not guaranteed. Read Google's guidance.

That guidance is specific to Google, not a shared specification for every AI service.

Collect five real customer questions

Start with sales conversations, emails and enquiries. Look for questions that influence a purchase: does this fit us, how does it work, what is required, what does it cost and what alternatives exist?

For a booking system, a customer might need to understand how cancellations, multiple staff members and payments work together. A general article about digitalisation is less useful for that decision.

Map each question to an existing or planned page. Improve the page that should answer it before creating several similar articles.

Build four kinds of evidence and explanation

We recommend starting with a service page explaining fit, scope and how an engagement begins; a decision guide comparing options; a case study describing context, delivery and substantiated results you have permission to publish; and a company page showing the people, location and contact details behind the business.

Link them where it helps the reader. A software comparison can point to your development service, while the service page can link back for visitors still comparing approaches.

Show how you think

An original decision tree, an annotated screenshot or an explanation of a difficult choice can make the content useful. Explain why you recommend an approach and when it is unsuitable.

Google recommends content that adds original value and makes its authorship clear. See its helpful content guidance.

Separate examples from evidence. A calculation can explain a method without being a client result. For measured outcomes, state the measure, period and comparison.

Check that people and search can reach the information

Check access and indexing in Search Console. Keep important information in readable text and link internally to the pages. Any structured data should match visible content. Google's guidance above covers these foundations.

Also review the visitor's experience. Can someone understand the offer on a phone? Do links work? Is the next step clear? This is a practical usability check, not a promise of rankings.

Measure enquiries alongside visibility

Define a useful outcome: relevant visits, enquiries about the right service or qualified conversations. Follow which pages contribute and what customers still need explained.

You can record a small set of AI questions with the service, date, response and linked sources. Treat them as samples. Individual answers do not establish how often your business appears for other users.

Compare search data and enquiries over time and record content changes. An improvement following an edit does not alone prove the edit caused it.

Improve one important service page first

Choose a service and five real questions. Check whether the page answers them. Add a useful example and relevant further reading, then follow whether appropriate visitors arrive and take the next step.

Explore search and AI visibility or send us the page you want to improve.

Example: from a claim to a useful answer

Before: “We offer smart integrations for tomorrow's businesses.”

After: “You can often keep your existing systems. We investigate whether approved orders can move into invoicing through APIs or exports. The first step is checking access, required fields and error handling.”

The second answer describes a situation, a possible solution and its conditions. It helps the reader assess a next step. This is illustrative; it does not imply that particular wording produces more AI citations.

Worksheet: separate visibility from business value

Measure Record Limitation
Indexing URL, check date and status Indexed does not mean displayed
AI citation Question, service, date, language and linked source A sample is not impression share
Visit Landing page, source and period Not all AI-influenced visits are identifiable
Enquiry Entry page when known and requested service A submission is not automatically a suitable opportunity
Qualified conversation Does the need fit your offer? Assess with sales context

Separate brand questions from questions asked by people who do not know you. Save a baseline and record changes. Compare consistent questions and periods, treating changes as observations rather than proof of causation.
